About the Password Generator

Reusing passwords is the single most common way accounts get compromised: one breached site exposes every other account that shares the same credentials. This generator creates a fresh, cryptographically random password in your browser — nothing is ever sent to a server — so every account you own can have its own unique key.

Length beats cleverness. A 16-character password drawn from letters, digits and symbols carries about 105 bits of entropy, putting it far beyond practical brute-force attacks. Use the strength meter to see the entropy of what you generated, turn on “exclude ambiguous” if you will ever read the password aloud or type it from a printed sheet, and store the result in a password manager instead of your memory.

How to use it

  1. 1Drag the slider to pick a length — 16 characters or more is recommended.
  2. 2Toggle the character sets you need (lowercase, uppercase, digits, symbols).
  3. 3Check the strength meter and entropy reading below the password.
  4. 4Click Regenerate for a new candidate, then Copy to use it.
